Why You Should Consider an Engagement Session
I get it. The idea of an engagement session sounds maybe a bit cheesy and you might not want one…totally understandable. BUT they actually have a lot of intangible values…
We get an opportunity to spend some time with one another before the big day.
I get to see how comfortable you guys are with each other and how comfortable or uncomfortable you are in front of the camera.
You get to see how I work and give direction from behind the camera.
When you get you images back the level of trust, and comfort level is raised. You go into the wedding day understanding how I work.
You get professional pictures of yourselves wearing “regular” clothes…there are only a few times in our lives where people hire a professional photographer…our high school senior pictures, our wedding day, and the occasional family photo session so it’s nice to have professional photos of you at this time in your lives.
Those first few clicks during an engagement session are always a little awkward, a little uncomfortable. We're all getting warmed up. Myself included. Trying to gauge how one particular couple interacts with each other. It's always different. As we gain our confidence, and our comfort with one another, the good images, the comfortable connection between us all become more and more effortless.
The posing part is easy. You do you. If you love each other show some affection. If it's cold keep each other warm. If the background is beautiful stand there. Your photographer can handle the rest.
In the end, what these sessions are really about is us building that extra bit of rapport before the wedding day. It's an opportunity to see how comfortable or uncomfortable you are in front of the camera. You get to see how I work behind the camera, and in the end you walk away with a nice set of images, and that level of trust, and our connection is elevated on the day of the wedding.
