What Is B-Roll?

In film and TV b-roll is a term used to describe supplemental footage. Generally, they are scene setters and landscapes. I use the term b-roll to describe images that are void of any sort of wedding context. Because I mainly photograph in the mountains of Colorado, during weddings I’m always on the lookout for beautiful scenes that exist without the need of adding a bride or groom to the scene.

These images are great for use in a slideshow or when I an designing a wedding album. These images help weave the story together, but my ultimate hope for these photographs is that couples will print and hang them on their wall as a beautiful piece of art as well as an anchor to remember their wedding day.
