The Photograph as an Heirloom

This is a photo of my grandparents on their wedding day I love to revisit this image every now and then. It gives me a great deal of perspective on the value of wedding photography and what I do. It's easy for me as a photographer to get caught up in the superficial details of the wedding industry. The value is not in how many likes my last post received, or if I'll win some award, or get a wedding published on a blog or in a magazine. The most important thing I can do for my clients is to create heirlooms, capture fleeting moments on this once-in-a-lifetime day, and most of all make images that will age well. Documents that reveal something about the character of the people within the photograph.
